Baião

The Sub-region of Baião integrates the municipalities of Baião, Resende and Cinfães.
"The Baião sub-region is the limit region of Vinho Verde, bordering with the Douro Region. It is located within the region at an intermediate altitude, conditions that create a less temperate climate with colder and less rainy winters as well as warmer and drier summer months. These features enable the correct maturation of the late maturing varieties, for example Azal and Avesso (white) and Amaral (red), with higher heat requirements at the end of its cycle. This sub-region has established itself in the production of greatly renowned white wines from the Avesso variety, with an intense and fruity aroma as well as a lively acidity."
