26th FEAST OF VINHO VERDE AND REGIONAL PRODUCTS OF PONTE DE LIMA "We promote our territory, our products of excellence, as a fundamental lever in a strategy to disseminate our endogenous products" said the Mayor of Ponte de Lima, Victor Mendes
"We promote our territory, our products of excellence, as a fundamental lever in a strategy for the dissemination of our endogenous products," stated the Mayor of Ponte de Lima, Victor Mendes, at the official opening ceremony of the 26th Vinho Verde and the Regional Products of Ponte de Lima, which this weekend captured thousands of visitors to Ponte de Lima.

Guest of honor, the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Food, Luís Medeiros Vieira, visited the fair, tasted the typical delicacies and participated in the tastings of Vinho Verde. The holder of the agriculture and food folder considered that "agriculture is a noble activity. Wine is culture, gastronomy and economy, being a product of excellence in Portuguese agriculture," said the official.

Keeping with tradition, the 26th Festival of Vinho Verde and the Regional Products of Ponte de Lima fulfilled its objectives by presenting a sample of typical products of the county, with snacks and wine tastings to delight visitors.

The Festival of Vinho Verde and the Regional Products of Ponte de Lima is organized in partnership between the Municipality of Ponte de Lima, the Professional School of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ponte de Lima, and the School of Agriculture of Ponte de Lima of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo.

It should be mentioned that the book "Vinhos Verdes - The region, history and heritage" by Professor António Barros Cardoso will be presented. The book "intends first and foremost to be a tribute to the women and men who have lived in the region of the vinho verde over the past two thousand years."

In addition to the musical shows, workshops, showcookings and the Contests of Vinho Verde of Ponte de Lima and crème brulée, the 26th edition of the Vinho Verde Festival and the Regional Products of Ponte de Lima, will contribute to the promotion of traditional flavors, with the highlight being the launching of the local Folar, made with the endogenous products of Ponte de Lima, Vinho Verde Loureiro and smoked sausages.

The wine competition will involve 41 samples, subject to the evaluation of the jury, made up of industry experts, including wine critics, and some technicians, who met on the 11th of June at Clara Penha - Casa dos Sabores, awarding the following producers:
