CENTER FOR THE INTERPRETATION AND PROMOTION OF VINHO VERDE Officially inaugurated on Ponte de Lima Day

The Vinho Verde Center for Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde- CIPVV is officially open. On Ponte de Lima Day, the Municipality of Ponte de Lima celebrated its 891th Anniversary of the granting of its first charter, by Queen Teresa and her son, Infante D. Afonso, opening the doors to a new space that has as its main mission the promotion of a product of excellence in the county, contributing to the promotion of wine tourism, as a strategic product of the region.

In a partnership established between the Municipality of Ponte de Lima and the Vinhos Verdes Viticulture Commission (CVRVV), this regional project is a comprehensive structure that incorporates elements alluding to the diversity and identity of the nine sub-regions in which the Demarcated Region of the Vinhos Verdes has been subdivided, in the perspective of promoting and disseminating the wine and the wine heritage.

The official inauguration was attended by the Prime Minister, António Costa, and the Minister of Economy, Manuel Caldeira Cabral, in a ceremony integrated in the official program of the commemorations of Ponte de Lima Day. Congratulating the Municipality for its anniversary, the Prime Minister emphasized "the importance of the CIPVV and what it will represent for the appreciation of Vinho Verde".

In his official speech on Ponte de Lima Day, the Mayor of Ponte de Lima, Victor Mendes assured that the CIPVV will integrate the "Equipment Network of Tourism Vocation, Promotion of Endogenous Resources and Historical Heritage." With a total investment of more than one million, six hundred thousand euros, this new equipment will "greatly dignify the nine sub-regions that make up the Demarcated Region of Vinhos Verdes and the contribution of all partners cannot be forgotten at this important moment," said the mayor.

It should also be mentioned that the investment associated with this project was framed in two applications: Wine Tourism II of PROVER Minho IN (Strategies for Collective Efficiency) in partnership with the Vinhos Verdes Winemaking Commission and the "CIP do Vinho Verde" Project, Both financed by the ON2 - the New North, ERDF, at a reimbursement rate of 70% and 85% respectively.
