By way of the Centre for the Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde (CIPVV), the municipality of Ponte de Lima is a candidate for the European Iter Vitis Award 2018, awarded by the Iter Vitis Association - Vineyards in Europe, designed to distinguish local initiatives which aim to support actions of valorisation and promotion of the viticultural heritage and wine tourism associated with local economic development.

Iter Vitis - Paths of the Vineyard is recognized as a Cultural Route of the European Council, which comprises 18 European countries.

The CIPVV, whose presidency has been assumed by the Portuguese Association of Wine Municipalities, has been the headquarters of the Iter Vitis in Portugal since March 2017.
